Since late 2010, Pastor Craig Crosby has been in the homes of several hundred hospice patients. It didn’t take long for him to realize a painful reality. He observed firsthand that 75% of those around us are not involved in any local church. Yes, it’s believed that nearly 30,000 folks in Colleton County alone are not part of a local church.
God burned in his heart the need for a new kind of church. A church focused on doing anything short of sin to reach those looking for faith, hope, and love. A church serious about Loving, Lifting, and Leading people to Jesus. A church like Refuge is today for so many who used to never attend church.
Refuge held its’ first gathering underneath a picnic shelter in February 2012. A small group of believers later starting meeting every other Sunday night for spiritual encouragement. In January 2014, Refuge launched Sunday morning worship. We now have two identical worship services every Sunday 9:15am and 11:00am at 203 Eddie Chasteen Drive in Walterboro.
At Refuge you can always “Come As You Are, Wear What You Have, & Never Expect To Leave The Same.” Light refreshments are always waiting. Birth to 5th grade ministries are provided during the worship hour. We’ve never even passed around an offering plate. The music is always moving and the messages always relevant to your everyday life. Refuge will “Change The Way You Think About Church.” Why not give us a chance?
